What can I expect on my first visit?
Initial Consultation
When you arrive at the clinic you will be greeted one of the chiropractic assistants which will ask you to fill out a few forms prior to meeting the chiropractor.
When you go through to see the chiropractor she will go through details with you including details about your complaint (s) and what brought you to the clinic, as well as a full medical history.
Physical Examination
Your chiropractor will carry out a thorough examination and perform a number of postural, orthopaedic and neurological tests in order to fully understand your medical picture.
If further investigation using X-Rays or MRI scans is required this will be arranged, both of which your chiropractor is fully qualified and adept to reading and interpreting.
Report of Findings
You will return then to the clinic to receive your report of findings. The reason for the delay is so that the chiropractor can fully interpret the findings from the consultation and any further investigations such as X-rays, in order to fully understand you and your presentation.
In your report of findings the chiropractor will sit down with you and tell you what was found, what it means, if chiropractic can help you, and if not who can help. Costs and the expected length of care will be explained to you, including how much maintenance will be required to keep your body in the best state possible with wellness care.
This will all be explained clearly so that you are able to make an informed decision about whether chiropractic is right for you.
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is very safe and gentle. It is often legendary for the 'clicking' or 'popping' sounds as the spine or joints are gently adjusted. This noise is due to the movement of gas from the joint capsule as the pressure is removed and has no therapeutic effect. The chiropractor will use different techniques, specific to you, but all the techniques will be fully explained to you throughout your care.
Chiropractic care will also incorporate advice, education and exercises for you to carry out at home to continue the healing process and speed both recovery and maintain wellness to prevent reoccurrence.
During you course of care your chiropractor will also carry out reassessments and re-reports so that you can observe your progress for yourself and understand the journey ahead of you.
